Plagiarism Policy
Jurnal Manajemen Bisnis dan Kesehatan (JMBK) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all forms of plagiarism seriously. Plagiarism is a violation of academic integrity and is not tolerated in any form.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Direct Plagiarism: Copying text from another source without quotation marks and proper attribution.
- Self-Plagiarism: Reusing significant parts of one's own published work without acknowledgment or citing the original source.
- Mosaic Plagiarism: Borrowing phrases from a source without using quotation marks or finding synonyms for the author’s language while keeping to the same general structure and meaning of the original.
- Accidental Plagiarism: Unintentional failure to cite sources correctly, which still constitutes plagiarism.
2. Plagiarism Detection
All submitted manuscripts undergo a plagiarism check using advanced plagiarism detection software. The software checks the manuscript against a vast database of academic content to identify any similarities with existing works.
3. Author Responsibilities
Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and that any parts of the manuscript that are based on previous works, including their own, are appropriately cited and referenced. Authors should also avoid using others' ideas or words without proper attribution.
4. Editorial Responsibilities
The editorial team at JMBK is responsible for:
- Conducting initial checks for plagiarism in all submitted manuscripts.
- Ensuring that manuscripts with detected plagiarism issues are reviewed and handled according to this policy.
- Educating authors on plagiarism and ethical writing practices.
5. Handling Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected at any stage before publication, the following steps will be taken:
- Minor Plagiarism: If minor plagiarism is detected (e.g., a few sentences copied without citation), the authors will be asked to revise the manuscript to correct the issues and provide proper citations.
- Major Plagiarism: If major plagiarism is detected (e.g., large portions of the text are copied without attribution), the manuscript will be rejected outright. The authors will be informed of the reasons for rejection and advised on ethical writing practices.
If plagiarism is detected after publication, the following actions will be taken:
- Retraction: The article will be retracted from the journal, and a retraction notice will be published, explaining the reasons for retraction.
- Notification: The authors' institution(s) and any relevant funding agencies will be notified of the plagiarism.
6. Consequences of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is a serious breach of ethical standards and can result in severe consequences, including:
- Rejection of the submitted manuscript.
- Retraction of published articles.
- Banning the authors from submitting future manuscripts to JMBK.
- Reporting the authors to their institutions and funding agencies.
7. Appeals
Authors have the right to appeal decisions made regarding plagiarism. Appeals must be submitted in writing to the Editor-in-Chief, providing a detailed explanation and any supporting evidence. The editorial board will review the appeal and make a final decision.
8. Education and Prevention
JMBK is committed to promoting ethical writing practices and preventing plagiarism. The journal provides resources and guidance for authors on how to avoid plagiarism and maintain academic integrity.
